Every year, students from Greenmount Primary School take part in an online Science IQ Quiz that is run by STAWA (Science Teachers Association of WA).
In Week 5 and 6 this term Finn Letts, April Myles, Mason Williams and Liam Smith from Year 6 formed a team and completed two online quizzes, working cooperatively to answer as many questions as accurately and as quickly as they could.
The first week the team scored an impressive 10 out of 12 and set themselves the goal of improving on that the following week. They were successful and scored 11 out of 12 in the second quiz giving them a total of 21 out of a possible 24. An awesome outcome!
More impressive was the way that the team worked cooperatively to read each question, work together to research relevant information, and then decide as a team the correct answer to submit. Working in a group requires the ability to listen, discuss and consider others’ opinions and knowledge, whilst communicating respectfully to work towards a common goal.
It is fantastic to see Greenmount Primary School students head towards secondary education with such strong skills under their belts. Well done guys!
